Inspections are performed to Level II certification standards, meeting the qualifications required for building recertification, insurance, and risk management reporting.

Common Questions

FAQ

When is a building recertification or milestone inspection required in Florida?

Florida requires periodic structural and electrical safety inspections of older buildings, through a statewide milestone inspection program and separate county and municipal recertification requirements that vary by jurisdiction. Vilano Engineering performs these inspections in Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach Counties — see our Building Recertification page for details on your specific requirements.

What does a Property Condition Assessment include?

A Property Condition Assessment following ASTM E2018 standards includes a walk-through survey of the site and the building's electrical, mechanical, and structural systems, plus review of available documents and interviews with property personnel. The report identifies deficiencies and supports due diligence, refinancing, insurance underwriting, and asset management decisions for lenders, buyers, and existing owners.

What is a Certified Level II Thermographer?

A Level II Thermographer is certified to set up and calibrate infrared cameras, interpret thermal images, and produce formal inspection reports. Certification is earned through accredited training programs and practical examinations. Many insurers and risk managers require Level II certification for thermography reports used in building recertification and underwriting decisions.

What qualifies Nicholas Strachan as an expert witness?
